The Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple is an annual festival celebrating the menstrual cycle of the Goddess Kamakhya, symbolizing fertility and womanhood. Ambubachi Mela 2024 will take place from June 22 to June 26, 2024. 

However, during Ambubachi Mela 2024, Kamakhya Temple will be shut down from June 22 to June 25 which marks the menstrual cycle of Goddess Kamakhya. No Devotee is allowed to enter the temple before 09:08 pm on June 25. Annually, the Kamakhya Temple mela draws innumerable devotees who participate in the age-old custom of the Kamakhya Temple Fair

The festival is often addressed as the ‘Mahakumbh of the East’, and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. On the last day of the Ambubachi Mela 2024 i.e. on June 25, the grand ceremony will happen with the temple doors swinging open for the devotees. Many pilgrims from different parts of the region come to Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple to pray to the goddess Kamakhya. 

Kamakhya Temple Mela happens in June, during this time devotees perform fast and offer prayers to Goddess Kamakhya. The air during the Kamakhya Temple Fair thickens with devotion and spirituality, heightened with the hymns and the mantras of Sadhus and tantrics. 

Ambubachi Mela Entry Fees are free for everyone, be a VIP or a regular devotee you have to follow the same queue as everyone. Since the Ambubachi Mela Entry Fees are free, it is estimated that there would be a huge rush of devotees during the Kamakhya Temple Fair. 

During Ambubachi Mela 2024, if you are still in a dilemma about whether you can get away with the mega rush by getting Ambubachi Mela Passes, then it should be quite evident to you that there are no Ambubachi Mela Passes as well. 

Guidelines To Be Followed At Ambubachi Mela 2024

  1. There are no Ambubachi Mela Passes, everyone has to follow the general queue. 
  2. The roads leading to Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple via Pandu Ghat will be closed during the annual fest. However, limited ferry services are available from Pandu Ghat.
  3. No one else apart from the institution of Kamakhya Temple Mela is allowed to distribute food and water.
  4. Ferry services and vehicle moments from Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple are restricted.
