The Eklingji Temple was built by Bappa Rawal, who was the founder of the Mewar Dynasty. This temple was built as a tribute to Lord Eklingji, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The deity Eklingji is considered the ruling deity of Mewar and it is believed that the Maharanas of Mewar rule the region as regents of Eklingji.
