History Of Eklingji Temple Udaipur


The Eklingji Temple was built by Bappa Rawal, who was the founder of the Mewar Dynasty. This temple was built as a tribute to Lord Eklingji, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The deity Eklingji is considered the ruling deity of Mewar and it is believed that the Maharanas of Mewar rule the region as regents of Eklingji. 

The temple was renovated by various Mewar rulers who were the devotees of Lord Eklingji. The temple was destroyed by the muslim invaders of Delhi Sultanate but Rana Kumbha of Mewar who was also known as ‘ a personal servant of Eklingji’ rebuilt the temple in the 14th century.
