GoAir and IndiGo to Suspend 1000 Flights on Sunday Amid Janta Curfew

Coronavirus! This word is making in the headlines on each and each news portal, newspaper and even in every magazine. This virus has been widespread in 150 countries and Territories in almost every corner of the globe. Most of the Countries have imposed travel restrictions to keep a check on the spread of the coronavirus. Amid all this chaos of increasing of the number of patients in our country, Honorable PM Narendra Modi asked every citizen for a Janta Curfew on 22nd March 2020 in the whole country.

Today, Two of the low fare airlines Indigo and GoAir announced that they have canceled around 1,000 domestic flights during the Janta Curfew imposed by the government on Sunday. They haven’t given any assurance of the refund of the affected passengers. In the announcement, GoAir mentioned that it will cancel all its domestic operations (330 flights) on Sunday. The authorities of Indigo said that they will operate only 60% of its domestic schedule of 1,400 local flights on Sunday. Most of the airlines clubbed and canceled some domestic flights in the last few weeks due to less number of travelers.

The Representative of GoAir said that “In the response to the clarion call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who urged for to adhere self-imposed curfew on Sunday, we are restricting the movements of people and gatherings to a bare minimum on our flights to check the spread of the Coronavirus. “GoAir has already stopped all its international departures.No international flight will land in India starting from March 22 to March 29, as per the mandate by government.

To conclude, we will request you the postpone all your travel plans if not necessary, support social distancing and Janta Curfew on 22nd March.
