 In news, Travel News

Travellers planning to fly abroad during the holiday season should be prepared for the “holiday travel airfare hike 2024!”. The International flights from Hyderabad cost much more than usual for Christmas and New Year. The airfare hikes during holidays have caused ticket prices to increase, even though these holidays are more than a month away.

Flight prices from Hyderabad to other countries have jumped up for the year-end holiday season from December 21 to January 1 according to the Times of India. Many people are travelling during this time since schools are closed and workers get long holiday breaks of up to 10 days.

The airfares hikes for Christmas and New Year have reached heights.

Surge In Airfare: Special New Year & Christmas Events Across Different Countries

More people are booking flights both within India and to other countries. Special events like Singapore’s Wonderland display, Dubai’s big shopping festival, and Christmas markets in Malaysia are drawing many tourists, making tickets even more expensive. The London, Dubai and Singapore airfare hike has particularly affected holiday travel plans.

Also, big holiday parties and events in Thailand and Dubai are making these places very popular right now. This high demand has pushed up flight prices from Hyderabad to favourite vacation spots like Singapore, London, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. The airfare hikes during holidays have especially impacted these popular routes.

Prices Double And Triple For Year-End Trips

Flight tickets from Hyderabad for the holiday season have become much more expensive, with prices going up two to three times higher than normal. The London, Dubai and Singapore airfare hike is particularly notable:

  • A trip to Dubai between December 22nd to 24th now costs between INR 18,000 to INR 36,000, from the usual INR 12,000 to INR 16,000.
  • Similarly, London flights have seen an even bigger jump where it normally costs INR 40,000 to INR 50,000 and is now selling for INR 1 lakh to INR 2.4 lakh in early January.

What adds to the situation is the fact that Thailand and Malaysia are letting Indians visit without visas —– which means more people are booking trips there. This mix of high demand, special holiday events, and easier travel rules in some countries is pushing prices higher and higher.

Clearly, this holiday season, flying abroad will cost much more than usual.
