ITBP Escorted 900 Supply Trucks to Kargil Amid COVID-19 Lockdown
Amid the nationwide lockdown due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has managed a safe passage for more than 900 trucks carrying essentials for the people living in the far-flung areas of Ladakh. ITBP escorted 900 trucks carrying food essentials and fuel tankers from the icy heights of Zoji La and reached Kargil, covering a distance of 100 km in about eight hours.
The convoys passed through Gumri, Meena Marg, Dras Via Fotu La Pass, and Namika La pass in extreme chilly climatic conditions with the temperatures dropping down to -10 degrees Celsius. The Northwest Frontier of ITBP which is based out of Leh has played a crucial role in the process with the help of Ladakh Administration.

Recently Rohtang pass was opened in order to provide the supply of essentials to the people of Spiti and Lahul Valley as well. Hopefully, things will become normal soon, and tourism will start to these places so that locals can get employment.
