Mawryngkhang literally means “King of Stones” and U as a suffix is used out of respect. Soon after the battle U Mawryngkhang fell in love with “Kthiang” from the neighborhood kingdom. But Mawryngkhang had a rival called “Mawpator” who also had his eyes on the pretty “Kthiang”. A fierce battle took place between the 2 rocks for several days.

Mawpator injured Mawryngkhang by cutting off his left hand (The mark from where his hand was cut is clearly visible on the rock from the Mawmoit Viewpoint ), but he did not give up.
