400 Mughal Era Coins Found At A Construction Site In Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has always been a hot topic among the news, last year it was mostly a topic of discussion because of the disputed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. 

UP, making sure that it always stands out among the rest of the states in the country, is again in the news where in a recent discovery, some 400 coins of the Mughal Era were found during the construction of a temple in Saharanpur. 

As per reports, a few laborers who were digging the area for the construction stumbled upon some coins and reported it. The police took the coins under their custody and stated that the coins were of the Mughal era and the inscriptions on the coin were in Arabic. 

These coins are approximately 350 years old and each weigh 11 grams, besides the cost of one coin is worth 3500(INR) in the market.

The SP from the Police Department stated that the archaeological department will examine the coins and check the metals used in making them. 

Earlier this year, a similar incident happened in the state of Madhya Pradesh where several square shaped Mughal era coins were found, which dates back to the 14th or 15th century.

After inspection from the archeological department, it was revealed that these coins were from the Mughal Era.
