Visitors to the Taj Mahal were shocked to see plants sprout from the marbles of Taj Mahal central dome. In a recent incident, a tourist’s photo of the plant shared on social media has sparked a debate about how well the historic site is being maintained. The plant was spotted on the dome’s north side, where rainwater had recently seeped through.

Unwanted Plants From Taj Mahal Dome

With thousands of daily visitors, the monument’s condition is crucial. After seeing unwanted plants from Taj Mahal dome, many people online are now asking if the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is doing enough to protect this famous landmark.

The appearance of plants sprouting from the marbles of Taj Mahal has led tourists and netizens to question whether there has been neglect in Taj Mahal maintenance.

Shakeel Chauhan, national general secretary of the Tourist Guide Federation of India, expressed his concern saying “The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) spends Rs 4 crore annually on the Taj Mahal’s preservation. Such images tarnish the monument’s reputation”. And called for quick action to fix the problem once the rainy season ends.

Historic Taj Mahal Faces Dome Leakage Concerns

In related news, heavy rains in Agra recently caused water to leak into the Taj Mahal’s main dome. This left both visitors and officials worried about potential damage. The gardens around the monument were flooded after two days of non-stop rain. However, when experts checked the dome, they found no serious harm.

Initially, there were fears of a small crack in the dome after moisture was noticed. The ASI quickly sent staff to keep watch on the situation.

The Taj Mahal, built in the 17th century, is not just a UNESCO World Heritage Site but also one of the Seven Wonders of the World, making its preservation extremely important.
