The Uttarakhand Government Has Put A Ban on mobile phones at Char Dham
The Uttarakhand government has imposed a Ban on mobile phones at Char Dham, even its use within 200 meters of the Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri temples. Chardham pilgrimage meeting, led by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami made this decision.
As per reports, around 2,800,000 people registered for the Chardham pilgrimage last month. This year, the number of pilgrims has doubled compared to 2023. In the first 6 days, the crowd was so large that the state struggled to manage it. The number of visitors was much more than the temples could handle, raising safety concerns.
The government made it clear that there was no sudden rush and called such reports false. They are focused on keeping pilgrims safe and will act against those spreading fake news. So, the government has made this decision “Ban on mobile phones at Char Dham,” to make the pilgrimage more organized for everyone.
To control a large number of visitors, authorities have imposed a Ban on mobile phones at Char Dham and also banned photography and videography within the 200-meter radius around these temples.
According to reports, along with a Ban on mobile phones at Char Dham, there will be strict checks at all points, and unregistered pilgrims won’t be allowed to continue, registration can be completed on the Uttarakhand tourism website. Also, the government is allowing only registered vehicles on the Chardham routes. This action is intended to manage traffic better and provide a safer, more organized pilgrimage for devotees.
The government assured that pilgrim safety is a top priority and these new steps are meant to tackle issues and provide a safer, more organized pilgrimage for everyone.
