What Is UPI One World Wallet?
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a new digital interface called ‘UPI One World Wallet’. This wallet is designed to help foreign visitors pay for things more easily during their stay in India. It allows tourists to make quick, real-time payments using their smartphones.
UPI, short for Unified Payments Interface, is known for being fast and safe for digital payments. Announced during India’s G20 Summit last year, UPI One World Wallet expanded its services to a broad range of countries. The expansion aims to make travelling in India easier and more convenient for international visitors.
How To Use UPI One World Wallet?
1. Get The Issuer App: Download the issuer app on your phone and sign up.
2. Get Your Documents Verified: Physically, have your passport and visa verified at the issuer counter.
3. Get Your Wallet: You will receive a digital wallet that works with your foreign phone number.
4. Add Money: Put Indian money (rupees) into your wallet.
You can:
- Change your country’s money for rupees at the counter or
- Use your credit or debit card to add money
5. Start Spending: Use the money in your wallet to pay at shops across India.
6. Encash The Balance: If you have money left in the wallet, you can get it back in cash.
