Upcoming New Service: Private Train Tours from Kerala To Kick-Off

 In news

Travelers in Kerala will soon have the opportunity to explore some of India’s most popular destinations in comfort and style, thanks to the state’s first-ever service of private train tours from Kerala. This new offering, set to launch on June 4, is the result of a collaboration between SRMPR Global Railways, a Chennai-based tour operator, and Princy World Travels, a Kochi-based travel agency, under the Indian Railways’ Bharat Gaurav Yatra project.

Devika Menon, who leads Princy World Travels, announced that SRMPR Global Railways has acquired a train from Indian Railways for tourist services. Princy World Travels will oversee ticketing and marketing. The first inaugural trip will start from Thiruvananthapuram and head towards Madgaon in Goa, with additional routes to Mumbai and Ayodhya planned for the future.

The train is designed to accommodate 750 passengers with 15 coaches—2 sleeper class, 11 third-class AC, and 2 second-class AC. A crew of 60 staff members, including paramedical professionals, will be on board to maintain a safe and enjoyable trip. The private train service will also provide facilities that include Wi-Fi, food services, and GPS tracking. The private train service from Kerala also features extensive tour packages that include stays at star-rated hotels, meals, and guided sightseeing excursions.

The fares for the four-day trip to Goa are organized into different tiers: non-AC sleeper at INR 13,999, 3-tier AC at INR 15,150, and 2-tier AC at INR 16,400. The shorter four-day trip to Mumbai has a similar pricing range, with fares starting at INR 15,050 for non-AC sleepers, INR 16,920 for 3-tier AC, and INR 18,825 for 2-tier AC. The eight-day trip to Ayodhya includes visits to religious sites in Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Prayagraj. The fare for this journey starts at INR 30,550 for non-AC sleepers, with the 3-tier AC priced at INR 33,850 and the 2-tier AC at INR 37,150. Children under five years travel for free, while those aged between five and ten are charged half the adult fare.

These train tours from Kerala have boarding locations across the state, allowing passengers to join the journey from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasargod. Equipped with CCTV cameras for safety and making only a limited number of stops, these trains are reserved exclusively for passengers with valid tickets.

The launch of these private trains is part of a larger initiative by Indian Railways to permit private companies to lease trains for tourism purposes. This venture is the first of its kind in Kerala, marking the entry of a private operator into the state’s train tourism sector. As the service prepares for its June launch, organizers are optimistic about its success and have plans to broaden the routes depending on demand. This fresh approach provides an appealing option for travellers in Kerala who are looking for a unique and convenient way to discover India’s exciting destinations.
